Writing Productivity & Habits ✍️

Issue 015

A note from Michelle...

I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving! Ours was nice. On Thanksgiving day, we had Thanksgiving dinner with my mom and dad, then visited Mike's (my husband) mom afterward for a little while. Saturday, we hosted Thanksgiving dinner at our house for Mike's mom and his uncle. It's always nice to spend time with family, laughing and sharing memories. How was your Thanksgiving?

Do you go shopping on Black Friday? My mom and I have gone every year for 20 years! And while it's not the same as it used to be, we still go because it's become a fun tradition. We go to one store, have breakfast, and then head to the mall. I love malls! It saddens me that so many are shutting down. The mall we used to go to all the time when I was growing up now has a YMCA and a children's doctor's office in it! There are still a few stores downstairs, but I miss the major department stores like Sears and JCPenney.

Do you still have malls near you? What was your favorite store to shop in when you were growing up?

On the Blog

November's theme was all about writing productivity and habits. I'm not going to lie: Habits are hard! We want to show up consistently, make progress on our projects, and feel good about our routines. But forming those habits isn’t always easy. Life gets busy, motivation dips, and even our best intentions can fall flat.

But I have good news for you! Habits aren’t built through perfection; they’re built through small, repeatable choices. This month on the blog, I talked about simple, practical ways to make writing feel more doable, even on the days when you don’t feel inspired. If writing productivity has been on your heart lately, these posts will help you build rhythms that actually stick.

Here’s a quick roundup in case you missed anything:

PS - Don't forget to read to the end. If you would like to be a featured author on my blog next year, fill out one of the interview forms below. I'd love to cheer you on and help spread the word about your book!

What I'm Reading This Month

Tide and Punishment is Bree Baker's third book in her Seaside Cafe Mystery Series. I was excited to see that the next book in the series was a Christmas book. Perfect timing! I didn't even plan that out. Don't you just love it when things work out like that?

Here's what Goodreads says about the book:

No one dreams of a killer Christmas...
It's Christmastime in Charm, North Carolina, and while Everly Swan would prefer to focus on decorating her iced tea shop for its first holiday season, Great-Aunt Fran has decided to run for mayor against her long-time nemesis. But when the other candidate turns up dead just before the first scheduled debate, all eyes turn to Fran as the suspect with the most obvious motive.
Everly knows her sweet, elderly Aunt Fran couldn't have murdered anyone, but as she struggles to find the real killer, it begins to seem like this may be the last merry Christmas her family may ever have.

What are you reading this month? I'm always looking for books to add to my reading list.
