Meet Sean Gibson

This month, we're sitting down to chat with author Sean Gibson. Sean is the president and founder of Christ Worker Ministries, which offers a unique blend of Biblical guidance and valuable business insights. With over 20 years in ministry and corporate professional settings, he understands the challenges that people face in the workplace.

Sean put his understanding and research into his newest book, The Holy Spirit at Work: Partnering with the Holy Spirit in Your Daily Work and Career. I love the reflection prompts and "workplace quests" Sean adds to each chapter because they're so encouraging. I know you'll love them too!

Let’s meet Sean!

What personal experience or research first led you to write this book?

Even though I was a practicing Christian, in a season of great loss and struggle, the Holy Spirit confronted me about my ignoring Him, especially during my workday. The change this moment brought led me to rediscover who the Spirit is from a biblical point of view and to discover how, as 2 Corinthians 13:14 says, I could fellowship with Him in my daily life.

Who do you hope will benefit most from your message, and how?

Regardless of your Christian background and denominational leanings, The Holy Spirit at Work focuses on believers in Christ who are hungry to experience more of the Spirit of God in a real and biblical way, especially in their professional lives.

What was the most surprising thing you discovered while writing or researching your book?

A skill that must be developed in research and writing is the ability to distill information into data points that the reader can receive and absorb. One's writings must provide enough energy for the reader to continue the journey of reading, all without bogging the reader down in the heaviness of being overly detailed.

What’s one piece of advice you’d share with aspiring nonfiction writers who want to publish?

Writing a book is one thing; marketing it is another. Be sure to understand the publishing process and how your book will fit into it.

Fun question: If your book were turned into a documentary, what would the theme song be?

The Dave Brubeck Quartet, Take Five. This song carries a great deal of personal sentiment for me and reminds me to take a break and realize who and what is around me.

Is there anything else you'd like to add?

Books are not just written; they are skillfully crafted and involve a team of individuals. This is not an exercise for a single person to do on their own. It will involve contributions from others. Make sure you are comfortable with that because it takes a team to do anything great.
